“From Mud to Naked Amoebae – Evolution of the Fifteen Pillars of College Leadership”

Andrew Rogerson, Ph.D.

Andrew Rogerson is the Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics. He obtained a doctorate degree in microbial ecology in 1979 from Stirling University, Scotland and has worked in 6 Universities and 2 Government research laboratories. He has over ten years of administrative experience as Dean at Fresno, Dean of the College of Science, Marshall University, W.V., and Associate Dean/Director of the Oceanographic Center of Nova Southeastern University, Florida. He has a strong research background (around 125 papers) and is a firm believer that the value of university research to the region is enormous and the benefits to students without question.

Fraka Harmsen, Ph.D.

Dr. Harmsen obtained her Ph.D. in geology from Victoria University, New Zealand in 1983. After research opportunities at the University of Montana, the Rosenstiel Oceanographic Institute of the University of Miami, and Moss Landing, CA she joined Fresno State in 1985. She has written numerous papers and received a number of large grants. Current research interests include climate change, Antarctic Devonian sedimentology and paleoenvironments, and the stratigraphic record of tsunami events. Currently, she is co-PI on a $1.4 million NSF METRO grant and PI on a $450K award from NOAA.

Shockwave Flash and Firefox

After a few annoying Firefox crashes I figured out that Shockwave Flash was freaking out on me. 

How I Figured It Out

I figured out it was Shockwave Flash plugin by visiting seveal gaming sites and watching the cursor spin and spin.  I had to Force quit the browser on my 10.6 by going to Mac->Force Quit->Firefox.  I restarted Firefox and disabled all the add-ons by Firefox->Tools-Add-Ons.  Went back to a gaming site.  The site asked me to install Flash.  I then re-enabled Shockwave Flash 10.1.x and watch the browser crash.
